Mixed Martial Arts
In the last decade the USA, as well as all around the globe, MMA Mixed Martial Arts Full Contact We here at Cambria Martial Arts Academy are one of the few schools that can provide a comprehensive cross-training program for anyone interested in learning the MMA Mixed Martial Arts style of fighting, and the training you will be getting will be in the same ring-dominating fighting styles you see in the UFC and PRIDE Fighting events today.

Our school offers a mix of stand-up fighting styles based on traditional Muay Thai kick boxing blended with Western Boxing. Our students will learn all the basic Muay Thai kick boxing fundamentals including kicking, knee strikes, elbow strikes, and hand drills, as well as manyCharlie Brenneman standard Western Boxing punch combination drills too.

Along with that stand-up training, our MMA Program also offers very extensive training in take-downs, grappling, and submission locks, with training that was taught to the instructors by actual fighters who participated in full contact mixed martial arts events that were televised ... these styles include tradition Japanese Jui-Jistu blended with many Brazilian Jui-Jitsu techniques, Shooto or Shoot Fighting training, joint manipulation and locking, grappling and western wrestling take-downs, lock-flow series, and traditional and modified Judo and Jui-Jitsu throws as well, which can supply a fighter with, literally, hundreds of submission moves and locks. rts ... from the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championships) to PRIDE Fighting out of Japan, mixed martial arts has swept the globe like a wave, and has altered the face of martial arts training forever.

Our school has actually offered a similar program of training for several years, and we have done this type of training well before these MMA events were ever televised ... our school focuses on creating a self-confident, and well rounded fighter, that is prepared for anything from upright fighting to ground fighting, and every range in between.

For our students, this specialized MMA Mixed Martial Arts Training Program requires no previous training or experience in any martial arts or fighting styles, and it can be started by anyone. Previous training in boxing, wrestling, any grappling arts, or any other martial arts training is helpful, but not required or necessary.

Muay Thai

Muay Thai (or Thai Boxing) is the national sport of Thailand, with its' martial arts origin based in the battlefield tactics of the Siamese or Thai army. Muay Thai is known and the "King of the Ring" around the world, and the Thai training methods develop devastating power, speed, and superb conditioning as well as an intense fighting spirit.

The major focus of the style is on power striking techniques of the hand foot, knee, and elbow ...Muay Thai Muay Thai kickboxers are generally considered to be able to generate the hardest and most powerful kicks in the world and Muay Thai boasts some of the best conditioned and toughest fighters known today.

At C.M.A.A., each student will learn all the basic Thai Boxing fundamentals including kicking, punching, knee striking, and elbow striking. Along with those techniques, the student also learns defensive and blocking techniques for all the offensive attacks.

The combination of these elements makes Muay Thai a very effective and devastating fighting style both on the street and in the ring.

The training is quite safe due to the sophisticated pad training that is part of the style. Training on the Thai pads will develop a smooth fighter and also aids in developing devastating kicking power.

Thai Boxing can allow an individual to develop into a very good martial artist in as little as six months and it can build confidence as well as get a person into better shape.

Jiu-Jitsu

Jiu-jitsu is a legendary and extremely effective art as a means of self defense and the style can be traced back for many centuries to its' native country of Japan, where it was use as a suplimental training form for the Samurai warriors to accompany their legendary weapon training.

Jiu-jitsu is one of the oldest forms of hand-to-hand combat in Japan. Records of Jiu-jitsu date back over 2000 years and the style was spawned from combat systems of warfare that were exclusive to various types of weaponry.

These systems of combat were primarily, but not exclusively taught, learned, and used, by theJiu-Jitsu legendary Samurai, who were a very high and very respected class of warriors who, at one time, were the ruling class of Japan ... Jiu-jitsu was the Samurai warriors main style of combat techniques after their weapon of choice, the sword.

At C.M.A.A., each student will learn the basic fundimentals of the art of Jiu-jitsu which will include stances and movement, falling techniques, joint locking techniques, throwing, grappling techniques, chokes/strangling techniques, and standing and ground submission techniques. A student learns self defense techniques to counter all types of attacks and Jiu-jitsu offers the average person an ability to cope with, and triumph over, a physical attacker.

Kenpo Karate

Kenpo, in translation, means "the law of the fist" and it is a unique martial arts style having been founded several centuries ago in a Chinese Shaolin temple.

On an external level, Kenpo is a no-holds barred fighting system of offensive and defensive methods, with equal emphasis of striking techniques with both the hands and the feet. The implementation of immobilization, control techniques, projections, takedowns, as well as someKenpo Karate weaponry adds a range to the fighting system you find in no other martial arts style.

Kenpo, as developed in America, is a street worthy martial arts system in which the emphasis is on self defense techniques, and Kenpo is regarded as one of the best striking arts in the world.

n the style of Kenpo, a student learns to use his hands, feet, knees, elbows, and even the head as weapons and in the unique system of Grandmaster Nick Cerios' Kenpo, which is taught at C.M.A.A., the student will learn the basic stances, punches, kicks, hand strikes, and forms.

The total training concept is what makes Kenpo a superior means of self defense enabling anyone, young, old, male, or female, to protect themselves and their loved ones in a physical confrontation or attack.

Eskrima

Eskrima is a martial art that originated in the Phillipines and is steeped in actual combat usage throughout its history. It is also one of the few arts that still is used, in one degree or another, in actual combat today. It is taught all over the world and many military special forces teams use these techniques in their training.

Eskrima covers all fighting ranges, allowing a person to defend against armed and unarmed attacks with whatever is available, but most training emphasize weapons proficiency and the ability for a person to learn to attack and defend themselves with the Eskrima or Kali stick.

Eskrima provides an excellent conditioning regimen for adults as well as children, with the added benefit of learning self-defense.

At C.M.A.A., students are taught the Inayan System of Eskrima, which encompasses more than one style of Eskrima. The systems taught at our school are Sinawali (double stick training), Dequerdas (single stick training), and Kadena De Mano (knife training).

This incredible weapons system is a multi-faceted system and it teaches a person speed and fast reflexes plus adds training for everyday life allowing a person to defend themselves against armed attackers.

Class Schedule & Times

Fall classes start every year on the first Wednesday after Labor Day and run on Monday and Wednesday evenings (schedule will vary for holidays). Doors open at 5:30 PM on those days and the Juniors/Family classes start at 5:50 PM. Adults come in at 6:45 PM and the adult classes start at 7:00 and run until about 8:00 PM (unless we are into something and we lose track of time).

Classes are $30.00 a month, there is no equipment purchase required and there is no cost for testing for belt rankings.
